Doğu Çeteci, a student at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Department of International Trade and Finance, has been accepted for a master’s degree at Scotland’s University of St Andrews, which is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world.
The 2nd IBSEN Summer School, hosted by The Hague University of Applied Sciences and organized by the IBSEN network -of which İzmir University of Economics (Türkiye) is a member along with universities from Germany, Czech Republic, South Korea, Canada, USA, Finland, Netherlands, France, and Italy - has ended! An online session held prior to the start of the summer school provided students with the opportunity to meet each other and the lecturers involved. Additionally, this session introduced students to the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) framework and gave an overview of the module. The duration of the program was two weeks and students took courses given by international instructors in two modules, IBSEN Module and General Module.
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) students made it to the finals of the ‘Research Challenge’ organized by the CFA Institute, one of the most respected organizations in the field of finance worldwide. A team of 5 students made a financial analysis of a company and turned it into a report in the competition where 31 teams from 25 universities participated. IUE students received full marks from the jury in many areas such as analysis skills, risk assessment and sectoral foresight. IUE Faculty of Business, Department of International Trade and Finance has achieved a series of success that is hard to achieve by making it to the finals for the third time in the last 4 years. The team, consisting of IUE Department of International Trade and Finance students Yiğitcan Alabaş and Arda Türkcan Kurtoğlu, Department of Business Administration student Doğucan İncesu, Business Administration graduate student Richie Vinoth Ramanan and Financial Economics graduate student Mücahit Zor, became one of the 5 teams that will take part in the final to be held in Istanbul on February 16.
Sustainable Finance Summer School, designed for high school students within the body of İzmir University of Economics, EKOSEM, was held on August 14-25. Prof. Dr. C. Coşkun Küçüközmen, Prof. Dr. Berna Aydoğan, and Prof. Dr. Gülin Vardar, faculty members from the Department of International Trade and Finance, shared valuable insights with the students regarding sustainable finance. The two-week program covered fundamental topics such as financial concepts, the relationship between risk and return, financial statements, and financial institutions in the first week, while the second week delved into sustainable finance and contemporary issues in finance. Students also received practical training on topics like stock market and investment analysis. Additionally, they had the opportunity to visit the İzmir Commodity Exchange and the İzmir Chamber of Commerce during the program. The Summer School concluded with a certificate ceremony for high school students from all over Turkey.
The UK-based CFA Institute, which is considered one of the most respected institutions in the finance sector, has included the Department of International Trade and Finance of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) in the ‘University Affiliation Program’, which includes world-renowned educational institutions.
