Izmir University of Economics, Department of International Trade and Finance hosted a panel themed “Economic expectations and evaluations in the light of current affairs”. Under the moderation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. C. Coşkun Küçüközmen, former Counsellor of Treasury and Foreign Trade Tevfik Altınok, former the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Governor Gazi Erçel, and President of Economy Journalists’ Association, Celal Toprak, shared their experiences and economic foresights with students.
Tevfik Altınok highlighted the importance of G20 countries in the changing form of global financial environment, where the uniaxial structure give place to a multiaxial environment, by mentioning rise of China.
Gazi Erçel remarked the significance of foresights regarding the future financial environment. Mr. Erçel stated the vital role of environment of confidence, political, economic and social stability, structural reforms and owning sufficient amount of reserves within the context of 2025 vision and emphasized the necessity of EU membership for Turkey.
Celal Toprak mentioned the necessity of innovation and branding by drawing attention to the opportunity of branding values such as “Istanbul”.
At the end of the panel, guests answered questions of International Trade and Finance students and had a talk on economy of Turkey.
