Course Objectives The Primary objective of this course is to provide the students knowledge about the duties, the working structures and the ways to implement the projects of the organizations that operate in International Trade and Finance fields, and also gives the opportunity to them to learn and discuss current issues in these fields.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • will be able to give information about the World Trade Organization (WTO) regime and the General agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in the framework of International Trade.
  • will be able to analyze the origins and basic rules of GATT/WTO including Most Favored Nation, National Treatment, Technical barriers, and provisions on quantitative restrictions, escape clauses.
  • will be able to explain the WTO agreements such as the Agreement on Traderelated aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) and General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS).
  • will be able to give information about its history, purpose, structure and functions.
  • will be able to discuss the current issues related with the TurkeyIMF relations.
  • will be able to explain the duties and nature of the organizations in International Trade and Finance.
Course Description Topics covered in this course are the World Trade Organization (WTO) regime and the General agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), the origins and basic rules of GATT/WTO including Most Favored Nation, National Treatment, Technical Barriers, and provisions on quantitative restrictions, escape clauses, the WTO agreements such as the Agreement on Traderelated aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) and General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), the history, purpose, structure and functions of IMF.
