Course Objectives This course is designed to be an introduction to international business transactions (i.e. all business transactions related to either international trade in goods and services or foreign direct investments) together with related international regulations. With this regard, the course aims to examine such topics as the World Trade Organization (WTO) and its major agreements (GATT, GATS, TRIPS, TRIMs etc.), dispute settlements under the WTO regime; unification of international trade law and institutions such as UNCITRAL and UNIDROIT; international sales law (CISG); legal systems for international transportation, payments, taxation and international commercial terms (Incoterms).
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • will be able to explain the law of international economy and its parties' sources.
  • will have knowledge of international economic systems such as the European Union and major organizations such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization.
  • will be able to prepare a sales contract,CSIG, and will be able to provide information on the merger of international trade law and institutions like UNCITRAL, UNIDROIT.
  • will be able to define international service trade and The General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS)
  • will be able to provide information about the Intellectual Property and Trade Related Intellectual Property Rights Agreement.
  • will be able to define international commerical delivery terms (INCOTERMS).
  • will be able to give information about international transportation.
  • will be able to discuss foreign multinational companies, foreign direct investement and Agreement on Trade-Related Investment Measures (TRIMs).
  • will be able to discuss financing of international operations, international payments, identify terms such as letters of credit, customs union, certified credits, bills of lading, promissory notes and export credit agencies.
Course Description This course focus on the international business transactions together with related international regulations.
